When we use Twitter, we can activate an extra geolocation service, in which information is sent about the place from where we write our messages in this popular social network. If we do not have it activated, however, our location can also be inferred through the content of our tweets, according to a new algorithm developed by scientists from IBM Research.
And it is that your conversations on Twitter and the behavior that you follow in this social network serves so that this algorithm detects with 70% efficiency from which city and province you write. The tool, which we might think interferes with our privacy, helps researchers analyze the geographic distribution of Twitter messages from different perspectives.
