Osiris Aristy, the defendant, published a photo with a loaded revolver on January 15, and wrote a series of bravado in three publications that were later removed; these included the emoticons in the image above. Within three days, the New York Police Department arrested Aristy from his home on charges of terrorist threats, which could mean up to seven years in jail.
The funny thing is that the young man never intimidated the police with words. The supposed warnings are the interpretation of the emojis, as if putting the emoji of a policeman followed by three emojis of a firearm meant a real threat that the young man was willing to go kill policemen.
