Upgrading the RAM in the Mac Mini was very simple, you just had to remove the bottom cover to insert a new module. Unfortunately this will not happen with the new model since the memory is soldered to the equipment and accessing it is not an easy task.
A report from the Macminicolo blog confirms the news and also adds that changing the hard drive would violate the warranty. To further complicate matters, Apple has decided to use security screws at the base of the Mac Mini, leaving the only option expensive initial setup upon purchase from the Apple Store.
Another lousy move by Apple for a team that many saw as the most viable option for working on OS X.
