The customization of the Android 10 and MIUI 11 software comes to an additional mid-range smartphone from Xiaomi: we are talking about the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE, a device with Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 and 6GB of RAM. The update is now available on the first devices with Global ROM and Global EEA. The new build can be identified with version V184.108.40.206.QFBMIXM (Mi 9 SE Global) and V220.127.116.11.QFBEUXM (Mi 9 SE EEA).
The weight of the update is 2.2GB and includes the same innovations already introduced in other smartphones of the Asian manufacturer: among these we find the security patches of February 2020, native support for dark mode and improvements dedicated to the Always On functionality. Display.
As is often the case with major system updates, the expansion process tends to be slow. This implies that, even though you have a Xiaomi Mi 9 SE, that does not guarantee that you can update: for now it has been sighted by some European countries. Distribution of the update will continue in the coming days.
You don’t have it and you want to install it now?
You can update your phone by downloading the ROM manually from this XDA Developers thread (do it at your own risk, there can always be complications). Then:
- Upload the downloaded file to the root of your phone’s storage.
- Open the Xiaomi Mi 9 SE settings and go to ‘About the phone’, at the top of the settings.
- Go to ‘System update’.
- Check manually that you do not have the OTA available. If it tells you that there is no update, click on the top three menu points and choose ‘Select update package’.
- Find the ROM you downloaded and click on the bottom ‘Ok’. The ROM will be installed by updating your phone.
