Wikipedia mourns the death of an editor in the Ukraine riots

Igor Kostenko, one of the main contributors to the encyclopedia in Ukraine, was killed during protests in his native country.

Wikipedian, journalist and geography student, Igor died on February 20 in clashes between protesters and riot police (Berkut) on Instytuska Street, next to the Independence Square in Kiev, the epicenter of the so-called Euromaidan. The body of the 23-year-old, who was participating with another group of students from his native Lviv in the protests, received two fatal shots, in addition to being beaten.

Kostenko participated in the violent protests where, despite the police indicating otherwise, the protesters were shot with automatic weapons, the use of explosives, as well as the action of shock groups. At the point where Igor died, sniper shots were reported in recent days, two of whom killed him
