WABetaInfo, the portal specialized in anticipating the new WhatsApp features that appear in the beta versions of the application, has revealed a new function that allows administrators to moderate groups. The new feature of WhatsApp is called Restricted Groups and is intended to grant administrators greater control over the common chat, having at their disposal more tools to moderate what is said in conversations.

The feature can only be enabled by administrators, and once activated, other users will not be able to write messages, send images, videos, documents or voice messages, or share their location without the approval of the moderator. In Restricted Groups mode, member users will be able to read the messages sent by administrators, they will have the option of deactivating notifications and if they want to make a comment they will be able to write it by clicking on the Message to Administrator button.

The message will therefore only reach the administrator, who will be in charge of deciding whether the comment is appropriate to be published or, on the contrary, does not meet the group’s requirements. As we said this is just a preview of a beta version. We will still have to wait to know if the platform finally approves this function and implements it in the general version of the app.
