The Civetchi assembly plant, whose majority shareholding is owned by the State, also shows signs of strong contraction by reporting a 79% reduction in production in the first two months of the year compared to the same period in 2014, which translates into its idle capacity around 98%.
According to the most recent data released, between January and February Civetchi (the Venezuelan Industrial Consortium of China Technology) assembled 38 units, a figure almost 80% lower than the 179 produced in the same period last year.
Inaugurated in March 2012, after an investment of about $ 70 million, the Civetchi plant in Valencia (Carabobo) is capable of assembling 30,000 units a year, according to the then Minister of Industries Ricardo Menéndez. However, the plant has never been able to reach its minimum goal of assembling about 40 units per day.
Via Assembler, partner of the State, operates at 2% of its capacity.
