Valladolid launches first electric bus line …

November 16, 2017

Since yesterday, the capital of Valladolid has had the first fully electric urban bus line in Spain, with zero emissions, within a project funded by the EU that allows the bus to be charged in four minutes, giving it the necessary autonomy to make a complete journey.

The mayor of Valladolid, Óscar Puente, supported the start-up of this one hundred percent power line, number seven, which connects the Pilarica and Arturo Eyries neighborhoods, with five buses and two fast charging systems known as inverted pantographs, by start and end of the journey.

The EU has financed two of the buses and the recharging system and the other three vehicles have been purchased by the city council, at a total cost of around three million euros.

The EU will collect data on how this technology works, in a pioneering model in Spain with which “Valladolid takes a step forward in sustainable modes of collective transport and mobility.”

Valladolid has a fleet of 150 urban buses, “very obsolete”, since they have an average age of thirteen years.
