The Federal Trade Commission of the United States FTC announced today that it has filed a lawsuit against the Amazon virtual store for allowing minors to make purchases without the authorization of their parents.

In a telephone press conference, the director of consumer protection of the FTC, Jessica Rich, assured that Amazon allowed children to make purchases through applications downloaded on mobile devices such as the Kindle Fire tablets without parental consent, and that the cost these purchases were then charged to his parents’ account.

“Amazon was not transparent with consumers. Since 2011, the company has allowed child expenses on their parents’ accounts amounting to between 99 cents and $ 99 each, ”Rich explained.

According to the US agency, children across the country would have spent millions of dollars without their parents’ authorization to buy virtual accessories in game applications on Amazon devices.
