Twitter will allow adding up to 116 additional characters to tweets cited by others. The company thus responds to user complaints about the lack of space in the messages. Until now, the number of characters in the quoted tweet was discounted from the 140 limit, so it was common that there was not enough space left to add comments.
The new functionality will embed the cited message with a link and display it similar to the images. At the moment it will only be available for Apple devices and the web version of the social network, although the San Francisco company has specified that it will soon be able to be used on Android as well.
