Cybercriminals have developed a powerful phishing tool in the guise of a messaging service to steal data and money from users.
It is a new Android banking Trojan that camouflages itself on devices as if it were the WeChat application, as revealed by Kaspersky Lab.
WeChat, the well-known instant messaging service, also allows payments to be made by linking the user’s bank details with the service account, which has allowed cybercriminals to develop a Trojan that mimics it.
The Trojan is capable of various malicious actions. When it is run, it opens a special interface for the user to enter their bank details, including their card number, their PIN code and their mobile phone number, becoming a powerful tool for theft of information.
