The Olympics are never without controversy. Not even in Japan, where the plan to redesign the National Olympic Stadium has met with protests over its high budget. Zaha Hadid’s architectural firm has agreed to cut the cost severely, and the result is even better than the original.
Zaha Hadid’s studio has replaced the previous covering with textile materials with less visual impact and that can be removed for indoor or outdoor events. The redesign has made the building more sustainable from an energy point of view, and its structure has been modified so that it can be used in all kinds of events without any additional modifications when the games are over.
