DigitalGlobe is not just any company. He has managed to get the US government to allow him to sell to anyone who can afford it, images with a resolution and detail much higher than what the law allowed until now.
This week the company launched its new Worldview-3 satellite, valued at 500 million dollars, and capable of taking images with a resolution of 25-30 cm, almost double that allowed until now and which is what we can appreciate. for example in services such as Google maps.
In addition to a higher resolution, the new satellite includes other improvements so that neither clouds nor pollution interfere in taking precise snapshots that allow obtaining information at the moment of specific areas, such as fires, earthquakes or massive events. To achieve this, the satellite also works in the infrared zone.
via This satellite has permission to sell images that can even identify a car.
