2013 was the farewell year for V8 engines in Formula 1. The new season will feature V6 hybrid engines so electronically advanced that their creators no longer call them engines, but ‘Power Units’. Below you have the engine that the Renault team has developed for 2014.
The energy recovery system that we knew as KERS goes down in history. It is replaced by two new elements called MGU-K and MGU-H. The first works in a similar way to the KERS itself, but is twice as powerful and allows energy to be released 10 times longer in each lap.
