Astronomers discovered a second dwarf planet-like object located beyond Pluto. The first of these objects was discovered in 2003 and named Sedna, located 76 astronomical units (the distance between the Earth and the Sun) from our star.
The object 2012 VP 113, recently published in Nature, is 80 astronomical units at its closest point to the sun, and when it is farthest it is located at 452 astronomical units. The planet has a diameter of about 450 kilometers, about half that of Sedna.
