A team of Chilean women create a portable device that allows you to charge your cell phone – you just need to bury it near a plant and that’s it!
Carolina Guerrero, Camila Rupcich and Evelyn Aravena – students of Industrial Engineering, Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering respectively – are the creators of E-Kaia, a device created to solve a daily contingency problem: prevent our mobile devices from running out of battery and Thus, let’s maintain communication with the world.
This technology allows the use of natural resources, maintaining energy quality and conserving the environment at the same time.
According to the Environmental Theorem, the latest E-Kaia design performs a full smartphone charge in just an hour and a half. This offers an alternative energy, to maintain communication and charge other small USB devices without having to depend on the electrical network – which gives an advantage in the face of blackouts and natural disasters.
