This type of car was condemned not to go beyond the prototype phase, since, in addition to having a very low autonomy, they were only capable of transporting a single passenger. For this reason, as we read in the blog «Ecoticias», its creators have defined them as the first family vehicle powered by solar energy in the world.
As if this achievement were not enough, this amazing car, which they have called Stella, is also one of the lightest in the world, weighing only 380 kilograms. This is because its chassis is made of lightweight materials, such as carbon fiber and aluminum. These are combined in the roof and hood with the photovoltaic cells responsible for generating the electrical energy that the vehicle needs to circulate. In addition, most of Stella’s functions are controlled via an LED screen that acts as a central computer.
The most surprising achievement of this vehicle is that its level of efficiency is so high that it not only allows it to travel 600 kilometers on a single full charge, but also consumes less energy on that journey than its panels have generated.
