Samsung has seen how the future launch of its SSD has been leaked Samsung 980 (not Pro), which will get stuck in the interface PCI-Express 3.0 x4 with the performance of a mid-range SSD within its segment, and this is because we are facing an SSD that uses a controller Pablo next to memory chips TLC V-NAND Flash of 136 floors / layers, and that will not have the typical DRAM memory for the cache, so it should be cheaper.
Available in three capacities 250GB, 500GB and 1TB, the fastest Samsung 980 SSD will be able to achieve a sequential read speed of up to 3500 MB / s while the writing will reach the up to 3000 MB / s. When it comes to 4K random read and write, we are talking about a performance of 500,000/480,000 IOPS respectively. Curiously, this market is already supplied by Samsung 970 Evo Plus with read and write speeds of up to 3500/3300 MB / s and 4K random performance of 620,000/480,000 IOPS.
As if that weren’t enough, the Samsung 980 has already been listed in Germany by 70 euros (250GB), 90 euros (500GB) and 150 euros (1TB), while the Samsung 970 Evo Plus does it for 54, 74 Y 144 euros respectively, so this launch does not make sense even though it is cheaper to produce. Its official launch would take place on March 30.
