The ability of curved sensors to take better advantage of the photons that will hit their surface will allow them, always according to Sony, to double the native sensitivity of flat sensors in the peripheral zone of the light projected by the objective, and to increase it by a factor of 1.4 in the center of that area. Impressive.
But this is not all. Another important advantage that these sensors will have on paper is that they will allow the dark current to be reduced five times, which is a parameter used in electronic engineering to define the residual current generated, in our case by an image sensor. when it is not stimulated by any photon.
via Sony’s curved sensor will double the sensitivity and minimize aberrations.
