Seoul Bans Uber While Developing Its Own App

July 21, 2014

Uber is a form of liberalization of the taxi service that has little regulation or requires the payment of exorbitant licenses or extra insurance. In Spain, the government has already made Uber illegal, and that a private vehicle with a driver cannot be commercially offered without an approved license or the service that makes it possible.

Taxi drivers indicate that Uber services are dangerous, since they do not have insurance or special security measures, but the real reason is that they have had to pay for a license and do not want direct competition that they do not control and that does not have their own expenses.

The same has happened in Seoul as in many other cities, but the difference is that in this case, they have decided to develop their own Uber, which will use geolocated taxis that customers can easily access from their mobile terminals.
