On March 8, 2014, a Beijing-bound Boeing 777 disappeared from radars with 239 people on board. Since then, Australian, Malaysian and Chinese authorities have investigated the mysterious disappearance, searching an area of more than 120,000 square kilometers.
After three years, the governments involved announced the end of the investigation when they did not find new evidence on the location of the Malaysia Airlines aircraft. “This January 17, 2017, the last ship left the search area. Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 has not been located in the 120,000 square kilometers of the Indian Ocean, ”the statement said.
During the last three years, only seven pieces (out of twenty) have been recognized as parts of the missing plane – or with a very high probability. Each government contributed $ 160 million and the best possible search technology.
