Interestingly, to introduce a hard drive, Seagate Vice President of Marketing Scott Horn spoke of the “mobilization” of the world. How the number of devices consumers use has increased. So the challenge, as it seems easy to assume, goes more towards what to offer to data centers and enterprises. In any case, he has not given more details about read or write speed, he has only announced that some test units are already being shipped, and that the market will welcome these 8 TB hard drives from next quarter, at the end of year presumably.
Pricing has not been announced either, but being “first in the world” on a product that is expensive from certain storage levels does not bode well for cheap.
