The Samsung Display division works on a flexible screen for smartphones that can be folded in half, said a senior executive of the company.
“We are going to ensure a production of 30,000 to 40,000 flexible screens every month by the end of next year. There will be no company with this production capacity by 2016, ″ said Lee Chang-hoon, vice president of strategy at Samsung Display.
The executive also explained that Samsung intends to reduce production costs using AMOLED technology, which is currently more expensive than LCD, to attract more customers.
On the other hand, Samsung has specified that by 2015 it will launch 30% fewer smartphone models.
