Hugo Dávila Barrios is the fourth Venezuelan to hold the presidency of the American Confederation of Urology, a medical association that brings together approximately 20,000 specialists from Latin America. His entry into the union will open the doors for new training options for Venezuelans who want to specialize in the area.
Dávila Barrios indicated that thanks to the resources available to the CAU, an organization that unites all the scientific urology societies in the region, a training center in robotic surgery will be created that will allow expanding the offer to Venezuelan doctors who want to continue with this specialty broadly linked to urology. In addition, it will favor the development of telemedicine and telesurgery.
The doctor also coordinates the Robotic Surgery Program of the Caracas University Hospital, created in 2009, and made that hospital the only public center with this type of technology in Latin America. He expressed that thanks to the offers and contacts of the CAU, medicine applied through tools such as robotic surgery will be easily accessible to Venezuelans.
