Dave Hunt had already shown his creativity in creating very ingenious hardware projects based on the Raspberry Pi minicomputer, but now he has gone one step further and created the so-called PiPhone, a smartphone based on that component.
As indicated in his article on the matter, this project also makes use of an Adafruit touch screen with the necessary circuitry, as well as a Sim900 module to be able to access GSM / GPRS networks and make and receive calls.
The result is a smartphone that is clearly crude in its construction – in fact, there is no case, much like Raspberry Pi – but one that functionally provides the capabilities of a basic phone.
