The Swiss pharmaceutical company Novartis announced that it has teamed up with the American internet giant Google in the business of so-called smart lenses.
Through its ophthalmology division, Alcon, Novartis has signed an agreement with Google with the aim of developing contact lenses that can help overcome diseases and ocular pathologies, the Swiss company explains in a statement.
One of the concrete examples that could arise from this union is the creation of contact lenses that can constantly measure the glucose levels of diabetics, and that the data can be transmitted to an external device.
