Nokia has registered a patent for malleable batteries that can be wound on themselves. The batteries, which are capable of taking a roll shape, are designed for use with “multi-function portable electronic devices,” according to Digital Spy. They could be placed anywhere on these devices, since they fit all kinds of shapes.
Nokia patented a similar power cell last year for use with portable devices, but the new technology is more flexible and versatile. The patent of the company acquired by Microsoft does not focus on current smartphones to which this battery could be attached, but on the devices that are to come, and whose development these batteries would facilitate.
