Nokia maps are no longer from Nokia

August 3, 2015

Audi, BMW and Mercedes bought HERE for $ 200 million more than expected, as Nokia received $ 3 billion from the ‘big three Germans’ for the service. The deal would close in the first quarter of next year.

Meanwhile, each of the three automakers will own an equal share of HERE’s shares.

At the moment, the date on which the cars of these manufacturers would begin to have the integrated maps is unknown.

In a press release, the trio of companies expressed the importance of acquiring the service, and remarked on the advantages that HERE will offer for the mobility of the future. “HERE laid the foundation for the next generation of mobility and mapping services. For the automotive industry this is a great step towards new vehicle assistance and, especially, for autonomous driving ”, the statement remarked.
