Symantec has detected a phishing campaign against Google Drive that is difficult for users to detect. Potential victims receive an email with a subject line that says “Documents” to cause the user to click on a link to a document of supposed importance.
According to Nick Johnston, a specialist at this security firm, by clicking on the link, the user does not arrive at Google Docs, but at a login page, with the same appearance as those used by many Google online services. That fake login page is “actually hosted on Google’s servers and served over SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) so it’s even more convincing.”
