The state telephone company Movilnet is developing a plan to update its platform to improve the operation of its voice and data networks, informed the vice president of Operations and Systems of Movilnet, Juan Duque, at the beginning of the XXVIIII Telecommunications Technical Conference, organized by the National Chamber of Telecommunications Companies (Canaemte).
According to a press release issued by Compañía Anónima Nacional Telefonos de Venezuela (Cantv), Duque said that with the update of the platform, the efficient deployment of the fourth generation in the country can be guaranteed.
«The birth of 4G (technology that will provide access to data) does not leave aside 3G services; this network must continue to evolve to guarantee the quality and stability of voice services, which is why Movilnet is working to strengthen it, “he explained.
The company makes large investments in the replacement and updating of the current infrastructure to triple the capacities of the GSM network and increase the download speed of the UMTS network, given a growing demand for services to which Movilnet must respond not only to individual needs, but rather as technological support for the development of strategic projects promoted by the Bolivarian Government, related to the health, education, communication, security and defense sectors, the note refers.
Duque assured that with the technical deployment currently carried out by the operator, more than 11 million people will be directly benefited.
In a first phase, Movilnet has modernized 464 base stations. «Barquisimeto and San Fernando de Apure are completely enlarged; Maracay is in the culmination phase and in Puerto La Cruz we have 50% of the extensions, which allows many users to experience higher download and upload speeds at this time; as well as more stability in voice traffic “he indicated.
«At Movilnet we are committed – and it is the commitment assumed since the Company’s nationalization – to reach every corner of the country, to reach the places where we have not reached until now, we continue to grow to expand coverage and guarantee inclusion, and at the same time We are strengthening our transport network to adequately respond to the demand for data that will be generated by LTE technology, ”added Duque.
