Microsoft officially launches its OneDrive

February 19, 2014

Cloud-servicesMicrosoft’s file storage service SkyDrive ceased to exist last January when the Redmond firm lost its legal battle with British satellite television station BSkyB over the use of the SkyDrive brand. Since then, the service has undergone a new name, OneDrive, which was officially announced today as the firm’s free cloud storage service and will be available to users around the world.

As the North American company has revealed in a statement, the system will offer its users the possibility of having 100 GB of free storage available for one year to the 100,000 users who access the service during this launch day. Currently, the platform offers 7 GB of storage that can be expanded to another 15 GB, equivalent to the space to save 7,000 photos, where the customer can store their photographic files and videos.
