Kaspersky’s research and analysis team reported the discovery of a new variant of the Destover Trojan that is using Sony’s digital certificate to avoid detection by antivirus.
According to Kaspersky, Destover contains two back doors that connect to remote IP addresses to await instructions, although it is unknown if there are more specific functions included in the Trojan.
This security certificate was compiled on December 5, and is part of the 40 GB of data stolen from Sony in the attack led by the Guardians of Peace (GOP) group.
