Telefónica has signed an agreement with Line Euro-Americas Corporation (a subsidiary of Line Corporation) to allow the operator’s users who have a mobile phone with the Firefox operating system to use this application exclusively in Venezuela, Peru, Spain, Colombia, Uruguay, Brazil and Mexico.
The companies have indicated that “shortly” the application that rivals WhatsApp in the mobile messaging business will also be marketed in other markets.
Since June 2013, Telefónica has launched mobile phones with the platform developed by Mozilla, Firefox OS, in seven countries. Other operators such as Telenor, Deutsche Telekom and TIM also support this platform that aims to deal with Android (Google) and Apple’s operating system, iOS.
