A judge ordered the suspension of the WhatsApp instant messaging system in Brazil because it allegedly did not help carry out an investigation.
Judge Luiz de Moura Correia ordered the suspension at the beginning of the month, although the system works normally. The Folha de S. Paulo newspaper reported that it is because the lawyers appealed the ruling.
The judge declined to go into details about an open process, but a press official from the Piauí State Department of Public Security said the case has to do with the appearance of “sexually graphic photos of children in the app.”
