The Iranian regime has banned access to the instant messaging application WhatsApp by claiming that an “American-Zionist” Jew owns the company, referring to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who recently bought this popular “app.”
“The reason for this is the absorption of WhatsApp by the founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, an American Zionist,” said Abdolsamad Khorramabadi, head of the country’s Committee on Internet Crimes in a statement. As an Iranian blogger, who has preferred not to reveal his identity, told Fox, the Tehran regime is “terrified” by the power of social media. “The Revolutionary Guard sees a great threat in these social sites.”
