Privacy Index, a study on Internet privacy carried out among 15,000 users in 15 countries, has revealed unusual contradictions between what the Internet user wants and what the Internet user does.

The first is that “We all want everything.” 91% of Internet users say they want to enjoy all the advantages and benefits of digital technology, including protection against terrorist or criminal acts, but in return only 27% are willing to sacrifice their privacy.

The second contradiction is Passivity. Despite the fact that more than half of those surveyed declared having suffered a security incident with their email or social network account hacked or with the theft or loss of their mobile, many do not take measures to protect themselves.
