Intel launches the Intel Core M processor in Colombia

November 27, 2014

As part of the processor’s anniversary, Intel launched the new Intel Core M processor in Colombia, which will equip the new 2-in-1 devices from various manufacturers that for now include: ASUS and Lenovo.

Offering an optimal mix of mobility and performance, Intel’s new processor has been specifically designed for incredible performance in the thinnest, fanless ultra-mobile devices. The Intel Core M processor can be part of ultra-thin computers with the Intel Core performance level and offer up to twice the battery life compared to a system from four years ago.

“We have been on a multi-year mission to address end-user requirements and transform mobile computing. The introduction of the Core M marks an important milestone in this journey, ”said Juan Carlos Garcés, Sales Manager for the Intel Channel – North Cone of Latin America. “Core M is the first in a new family of products designed to deliver the promise of one of the world’s thinnest laptops and the high performance of a tablet in a single 2-in-1 device.

Faster performance and longer battery life

The Intel Core M enables up to 50% faster computing speed performance and up to 40% faster graphics performance versus the previous similar 4th generation Core processor2. Consumers with an older PC will see a greater and significant improvement. The Intel Core M offers up to twice the computing performance and up to seven times better graphics compared to a 4-year-old PC, for example.

In 2013, Intel delivered the largest advance in battery life from generation to generation in company history. Reducing power to the processor and the Intel® Core ™ M platform increases battery life even more. The Intel Core M processor can handle more than 8 hours of video playback; which means up to 20% (1.7 hours) longer battery life compared to the previous generation Intel Core processor, and doubles the battery life of most four-year PCs.

2-in-1 slim and fanless

The whole Intel Core M processor is 50% smaller and, at 4.5 Watts, it has 60% lower thermal power than the previous generation4. This allows OEMs to design sleek, fanless systems less than 9mm thick – thinner than an AAA battery and sleeker than today’s laptops. There are already more than 20 OEM products in the pipeline based on the Intel Core M processor. The first systems with the Intel Core M processor will be available in stores in the holiday sales season.A “conflict free” processor; additional characteristics

The Intel Core M is a “conflict-free” product, which means that this product does not contain conflict minerals (tin, tantalum, tungsten and / or gold) that directly or indirectly finance, or benefit armed groups in the Republic. Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), or in neighboring countries. The Intel Core M processor is available in various versions: the Intel Core M-5Y10 / 5Y10a processors up to 2.0 GHz and the Intel Core M-5Y70 processor from up to 2.6GHz. The Core M-5Y70 is the highest performing Core M processor and is also available with Intel vPro technology for enterprise 2-in-1 devices, with built-in security features to protect data, user identity, and network access5.

Here are the first devices with Core M processors that will be available soon in the Colombian market:
