Ford and Intel join forces in developing more technology for vehicle interiors.
The project has been baptized as Mobii and revolves around a camera inside the car. Instead of betting on voice recognition or extending interfaces from mobile devices, Mobii chooses the path of recognizing the driver, and incidentally taking a look at everything that moves inside the cabin.
The personalized interaction with the intelligent systems of the team begins with knowing who is in command, and that is taken care of by the camera that is housed above the steering wheel.
The driver identification can allow many things, such as not letting other people drive, blocking access to personal information, and even remote control – from the phone – of the main functions of the car.
