Cloud storage services may not be as secure as it may first appear.
At least, that can be gleaned from recent revelations by Edward Snowden, who has commented that many cloud storage services collaborate with other agencies, putting our privacy at risk. It has even given names, placing Dropbox as one of the projects that most violates the privacy of users. In fact, according to him, “it is a danger to privacy.”
The truth is that the well-known security technician has made things clear about what happens with Dropbox: “It is a partner of PRISM, which makes it a very hostile site for privacy.” He has even taken the opportunity to talk about SpiderOak, a service that, according to his statements, truly respects users’ files, without providing access to them.
