If there is background music, less information we remember

If there is background music, less information we remember

Music is the culprit that you do not remember certain information, especially if we are no longer young.

Research carried out by the Georgia Institute of Technology (ITG) separated the study participants by age groups. Everyone (young, old and old) participated in active sessions where they had to listen to a series of melodies while trying to remember different names of people.

The younger ones had no difficulty remembering those names with that background music, however, the older ones showed a deficit of about 10 percent. When they had to remember the same names but in absolute silence then they did remember those names.

via The older we are, the less information we remember if there is background music.
