The incident comes from a failure in iCloud, specifically in the Find my iPhone function. Although this option is very useful to secure our devices, it also has its flaws, and serious ones, since many users are beginning to appear in the Apple support forums who denounce that their iPhone, iPad or Mac have been remotely blocked by hackers through this service, requiring them to pay an amount of money to unlock their terminal.
To access users’ accounts, hackers could be using the latest security breaches that appeared in iCloud. One of the solutions seems to be to use two-step verification of the Apple ID, since it seems that in principle the vulnerable accounts are those that are not using it.
