One of the problems that accumulates on Twitter and that gives it the most headaches are the false profiles registered on its platform. Italian researchers, Andrea Stroppa and Carlo De Micheli, have estimated that the popular “microblog” network has some 20 million fake accounts.
Although in many cases it is difficult to find out if an account is false, some existing free tools allow an approximation based on several parameters. Some are SocialBro, Fake Follower Check or Untweeps. In the case of SocialBro, this tool allows identifying inactive followers in the last three months, just like Untweeps offers.
In the case of Fake Follower Check, this website collects the “tweeters” that are supposedly false, introducing a verification percentage, classifying them as false, inactive and good. The company that has developed this service, Status People, guarantees its reliability. What it does is connect your user profile and offer in detail the number of false, inactive and good accounts that follow you. Socialbakers has a similar tool. Another similar tool is Followerwonk, which offers interesting graphs, as happens in Twitter Audit, from where you can even easily remove fake followers.
