Now we know, from the mouth of Astro Teller, responsible for Google X, the following plans for Project Loon. The goal is to demonstrate that you can offer wireless access to millions of people who cannot access the network today. To do this, Google needs a large fleet of balloons flying around the circumference of the planet constantly so that people on the ground can catch the signal at all times.
Next year we will have a fleet of semi-permanent ring-shaped balloons somewhere in the southern hemisphere, so that its inhabitants can have the Internet anywhere. The balloons will provide a wireless signal using the same standard as 4G LTE telephony with speeds of 22 Mbps in fixed antennas and 5 Mbps in mobile terminals.
via Google’s balloons to bring the Internet to the world will be ready next year.
