The idea is to convince European users to use messaging tools that comply with EU privacy laws.
Germany raises the first alert flag after the purchase of WhatsApp by Facebook.
The reason for this call is that the commissioner believes that this treatment could cause severe problems in the handling of personal data due to the possibility of a merger of WhatsApp data with Facebook data in the medium term.
These communication data and the content of both services combined would allow each user to be more precisely profiled and thus commercially exploit everything generated on a day-to-day basis for advertising purposes.
