Cengage Learning will hold the free webinar ‘Millennium Development Goals in the Classroom – Horizon 2015’, next Friday, November 25, 2014, at 9.30 am in Venezuela.
The event will be broadcast online -by Internet-, access is free (requires prior registration), and is aimed at librarians and university managers.
Speaker: Dra. Columba Quiñones. Doctor in Social Anthropology from the Universidad Iberoamericana. Former Director of Libraries and Promotion of Reading of the Undersecretariat of Basic Education of the SEP. Part-time teacher and researcher at Universidad Justo Sierra, Plantel 100 Metros.
During the webinar, the contribution made by digital repositories and online databases of educational resources to libraries and universities will be addressed, within the framework of the Millennium Declaration, signed on September 8, 2000 at the UN, which collects aspects related to sustainable development, the environment, education and the eradication of poverty. An international commitment between the main actors in the economic and governmental world, whose time horizon is 2015: the first section of a long road to analyze indicators in relation to the specific objectives of the set of international policies, which have been developed in the last 14 years .
The progressive fulfillment of the goals of the Millennium Development Goals by the countries is based on various factors, and one of them is the ease of access to knowledge and the growing availability of it, through various formats supported by technologies, which today libraries and educational institutions have at their disposal.
