First proposal for a map of Caracas for drones

This initiative is a great advance and it is very important that everyone knows it so that those interested can participate in the perfection of this flight instrument such as a map for Remote Manned Aircraft (RPAS), to strengthen technological development in our country but above all to raise the level of safety that all those involved in the aeronautical world must have. In this map you can see the risk areas such as Embassies, Airports, Ministries among others, offering the drone pilot a guide that will avoid the loss of his equipment by flying in risk areas while avoiding damage to third parties.

The first digital edition of a Map of the Metropolitan Area of ​​Caracas for Low Risk Aeronautical Operations with Light Multirotor Drones (RPAS) is available for discussion and improvement by all official, private and private users who operate this type of aircraft. The information was provided by the president of Maxdrone Venezuela, Julio Cesar González.

“The initiative arises from the need to cooperate and make concrete contributions for the safe and reliable integration of Remote Manned Aircraft, RPAS or drones as they are popularly called, to the Non-Segregated Airspace, since as operators we understand that they must be carried out progress in this regard and in the development of regulations that guarantee both aeronautical safety and the safety of people on the ground, as well as the availability of these technologies for the benefit of the country. We believe that one thing should not be separate from the other. Taking a single path would paradoxically mean the safe way to increase the levels of insecurity, not only due to operations carried out out of control and without taking into account optimized, regularized, accessible and realistic levels of security, but also that the indisposition of these technologies it would make dependents, with precarious and unsustainable positions for any national project that requires or wishes to use some type of aerial equipment, especially in times of crisis. On the contrary, many inspections and tasks that are normally carried out with other aircraft and much more expensive equipment could be made cheaper or made viable with these technologies ”, declared González.

The map, on a scale of 1: 15,000, has information on the maximum recommended heights for flying, places with specific restrictions and prohibitions, signs in the La Carlota area, as well as approach routes and aircraft overflights. A curious aspect is the fact that the nesting sites of Macaws are also indicated on the map as restricted spaces, since in addition to protecting the species, it has been proven that they attack drones and can cause their fall if they feel their young. threatened.

The president of Maxdrone indicated that “this digital edition is a proposal and at the same time an exhortation for this map to be enriched and reinforced with the existing aviation safety culture and with the operational experience in these teams obtained by the community of drone users in the country and around the world. We must start a path for the gradual and safe integration into controlled airspace, for this, guidelines, authorizations and legal coverage are required, all this is possible and absolutely necessary. Many European countries that initially severely restricted the development of Remote Manned Aerial Systems are currently reviewing their regulations to promote them. No one wants to remain behind these technological advances, their economic benefits and their potential practical applications in cities and other controlled spaces. ”González highlighted that in Venezuela several public organizations, university researchers, students of technological careers, private companies and users individuals have been making progress to be recognized as actors in the national aeronautical sector.

“In the case of Caracas, which has an airport in the middle of the city from where helicopters of more than 28 thousand kilos unloaded and numerous aircraft of different weights, characteristics and features operate, we believe that regular and fully controlled operations with manned aircraft are possible. remote control of the lightweight multirotor type, generally weighing less than 5 kilos.
