An experimental dengue vaccine developed by the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi has shown an efficacy of 95.5% in reducing the development of severe cases of the disease in tests carried out in Brazil and Latin America.
According to the state-run Brazil Agency, the vaccine is the first completed to combat dengue, a disease that so far this year has killed 377 people in Brazil and which, in addition to this country, is also considered endemic in Colombia. , Honduras, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
The French laboratory will request an evaluation of this vaccine from the National Sanitary Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) of Brazil in the first quarter of 2015 and it is expected that by the end of next year it will already be registered in the country and can be commercialized.
