The European Aviation Safety Agency EASA has given the green light to the use of portable electronic devices – mobiles, tablets, e-readers, MP3 players and laptops – inside airplanes without the need to activate “airplane mode”.
However, this permit covers only European airlines which, in turn, will only be able to allow the free use of electronic devices after passing a series of tests that guarantee that in no case will they interfere with the aircraft’s own systems.
In any case, and when in doubt, EASA advises to check on the airline’s website whether or not the use of electronic devices is allowed and in what way, while remembering that “everyone’s safety is the priority” , so you have to follow the instructions of the onboard crew.
