It is essential to take care of this type of social networks since these accounts are usually connected with credit cards and have a large amount of shared private data, such as the home address, email or even the user’s location ”, said Mário Turner, ESET Social Media Scanner Product Manager. “Of all the malicious or suspicious links, 73% were detected on Facebook and the rest on Twitter,” concluded the specialist.

This week, the ESET Latin America Research Laboratory detected the massive spread on Facebook of a false video with sexual content that downloads multiple threats with the aim of stealing user information.

The new version of ESET Social Media Scanner includes improvements in the detection of malicious code and changes in its interface that are adapted to mobile devices such as smartphones Y tablets. In turn, the automatic scan works continuously protecting users against malicious content in real time.
