The company F-Secure published a list of recommendations for those who, for whatever reason, cannot abandon the veteran operating system.
- Isolate XP devices on separate networks to protect newer machines from being attacked from compromised Windows XP computers.
- Install yes or yes the latest Windows XP update published so that the machines are protected against the latest known vulnerabilities (remember that zero-day attacks will probably increase the day after the end of support).
- Install an alternative and updated browser to configure it by default, because although XP comes with Internet Explorer, it only supports up to IE 9.
- Apply all the latest patches to Microsoft Office if it is installed, to reduce the chance of compromising the machine.
